Shropshire Model Flying Club and Whitchurch Models are pleased to announce:
Three flying scholarships are offered to young Shropshire people between the ages of 12 and 18 years. (Candidates must be under 18 on the 1 January 2012) The scholarships will run between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2012. Successful candicates will be taught to fly radio controlled model aircraft and the disciplines of basic aerodynamics and model engineering. Scholarships will confer a years membership and the benefits of the British Model Flying Association (Society of Model Aircraft Engineers)
Candidates must choose one of 2 essay subjects and complete their work in no more than 250 words.

How Aviation Changed the Twentieth Century.
The entries should be the sole work of the candidate and should be countersigned by a parent, guardian, teacher or youth worker.
It is emphasised that the competition will not be judged on the standard of the candidates' English. Allowance will be made for each candidate's age. The winning entries will in the opinion of the judges, display enthusiasm, interest and developing knowledge in aviation.
No existing SMFC member or relative of an SMFC member, nor relative of Whitchurch Models management, may take part in the competition.
Entries can be submitted in any written form. They should be accompanied by name and address, statement of age, parent, guardian or youth worker's signature and the name of the school or youth organisation attended.
