Scale Day was postponed by two days in the hope that the strong winds would abate. Unfortunately throughout the day we had to put up with wind of 15mph or more and as a result some of the lighter balsa aircraft were not flown.
Ken Taylor turned up with a Pupeteer and a large Corsair powered by a Zenoah petrol engine and bravely flew both. Richard Oliver turned up with three Spitfires, a Stuka in Eastern Front winter colours and an electric powered Stampe biplane which handled the wind well. John McColley flew a Mustang and a “twin engined German bomber.” Phil Pearson also flew a Mustang and Derek James and Alan Smith displayed an Aeronca Sedan and a PZL-P24 Polish fighter respectively as static exhibits.
